Uganda, 'The Pearl of Africa' straddles the Equator and embraces the shores of the world's largest inland lake, the mighty Lake Victoria. Host to the source of the Nile at Jinja, Uganda is also home to the world's second-largest lake- Lake Victoria, and one of the most ancient volcanoes on earth. The national parks and reserves of Uganda cover 11,023 sq km and include Bwindi impenetrable, kibale, kidepo Valley, Lake Mburo, Mgahinga, Mount Elgon, Murchison Falls, Queen Elizabeth, Ruwenzori and Semuliki. Queen Elizabeth National park known as 'the Treasure of Uganda', promise a gorgeous fusion of lakes, rivers, volcanic craters and savannah- home to elephants, buffaloes, hippos, Uganda kobs, lions, leopards and chimpanzee. Uganda offers 50 large mammal species and all the members of the 'Big Five'(elephant, lion, leopard and rhinoceros).
